First Black-Owned Winery in the Houston Area!

First Black-Owned Winery in the Houston Area

With all that’s happening in the world today, it’s been evident that we’ve all needed a drink or two. And this tasty black-owned and family-operated winery is just the place for you to relax, enjoy the sights and taste some amazing wine. 2014, was the year it all started. Jennifer Prothow came up with the idea and with the help of her parents, the business has become an award-winning establishment!

The first batch of wine was bottled in 2016, and while their doors opened three years later the smooth and creative flavors were worth the wait! Located in Katy Texas, Erma Rose Winery focuses on making wines from a variety of fresh frozen fruit, free of concentrates and low in sulfites. The current signature flavors are Banana, Peach, Mango, Blueberry, Blackberry, and Cranberry. To date, ErmaRose Winery has sold nearly 1,000 cases of wine!

The creative name behind this establishment was inspired by both of Jennifer’s grandmother’s Erma Jewel Hobley and Rosa Jones Prothrow. What’s so amazing about this winery besides the amazing flavors is the entire experience with the outdoor seating with a beautiful setup and the live entertainment from many talented artists.

This Winery also has wine tasting to help you pick your favorite flavor. Starting at $5.00 you can taste four of their amazing wines and for $12.00 you can try all eight! They also have bottles of wine that you can purchase from their website starting at $14.00 a bottle with the flavors being peach, strawberry, mango, green apple, and other mixed flavors such as Royal Dragonfly that has blackberries and strawberries, and Fighting Condors that has banana and strawberries! You can also try the amazing food trucks that stop by the vineyard every week!
